The city of Las Vegas has introduced two new programs to help the local business community as businesses reopens under Nevada’s Phase 1 operating regulations.

The first program is an emergency grant which will be provided as direct funds to small businesses impacted by the guidance and restrictions from the Governor’s orders for business operations and in accordance with the Southern Nevada Health District’s guidance. This emergency grant will be funded through $4M recouped from funds received by the Coronavirus Relief Fund of the CARES Act. With this emergency grant, small businesses can receive up to $4k to fund expenses associated with personal protective equipment, facility retrofit for health and safety measures, or other reasonable expenses to prepare the business for reopening or extending reopening, depending on the city’s circumstances.

Eligible businesses must have 3 to 25 full-time equivalent employees, an active business license and must be committed to follow the regulations and comply with any measures for reopening of businesses from the state of Nevada and the Southern Nevada Health District.

In the second program, the city of Las Vegas will expand the Safe Sidewalks program, which was announced last week for businesses in downtown Las Vegas to include commercial centers and commercially zoned properties within the city. The plan will allow businesses to utilize sidewalks and parking lots in private commercial center properties across the city. This program is a temporary measure that continues through Phase 1 and Phase 2.
